So, one thing I did learn on my hike today is that paths and streams are basically indistinguishable here. They're actually the same thing.

@PaulTypes Interesting! How specific is he on timings? First time I ever climbed in the Lakes, I got caught out by the mist. In Nov, though.
@PaulTypes The mist can be very valley-specific. You can walk a ridge path, and see some valleys brimful of mist while others are clear.
