FYI scala folk: most common response I get to "I used to write a lot of scala" is "oh, I heard the community is awful". People extrapolate.

@dibblego I'm not sure a response of "well form your own opinion dummy" or similar would make things better in that case...

@_jrwest I've seen people make outrageous and ill-informed claims on the last 24 hours, completely unaware of who they are hurting.

@propensive there is a non-neglibgle group of people who are uncomfortable. You can say the problem is with them but I'd argue thats wrong

@_jrwest Well, I don't think it is with them. They're repeating a common perception. My tweet was an attempt to counter that perception...

@propensive countering the perception is going to take much more than a tweet unfortunately.
