@propensive When I've had this problem it's turned out to be invalid addresses in the To field. No errors, mail just stuck on sending.
I wrote 5 emails in GMail on my Android last week: they're marked as "Sending..." but haven't sent. Does anyone know how to force them out?

@_EvansD Ah... I think my problem was due to trying to send with no connection. Almost certainly a bug in Gmail. :(
