In the end, the condemning thing about the Tesla car is that it takes *an hour and a half* to charge it. A petrol car charges in 5 minutes.

@djspiewak Same here, actually. My larger point is that batteries are not to be used for mechanical work.

@runarorama@propensive Yep, and that’s really critical. Transforming energy causes waste in the form of heat, which limits charge rates.
