The first element is the number of subsequent elements to sum. So 8 + 3 + 5 + 3

You should have used a lazy list, then the second time it had you might have been the same as the first. Cue discussion on the idempotency of "being had".

great read although the possibility of memory leaks in scala scares me off every using lazylist without a very strong justification
