Totally unsurprising life hack: a little bit of regular, very reasonable weight lifting, and regular stretches, completely got rid of back pains that I eventually realised were always present, to varying degrees, for the past 5 years or so.

"Eventually" being, if I'm being entirely honest, after a year or so. So it takes a while, and it's hard to stay motivated. But at least in my case, it was worth it, except for the bit where I know *need* to exercise regularly or I start feeling restless and queasy.

In which months (1..12) did you see the biggest positive/negative difference to your back?

Negative was the first couple of months, because: - I didn't start stretching until much later - weight lifting is not good on your back until you learn proper form - male ego got the better of me and I rushed to lift heavy, not lift well

Positive is much harder to say. I just realised Monday that I hadn't felt pain in a while, and consciously started monitoring it. As far as I can tell, the dull ache and the sudden stabbing pains are gone

And even if they're not - 2 years ago, an entire week free of pain was unthinkable. This is a dramatic improvement of my qualify of life. Not to mention the other benefits, such as weight loss without going on a diet.

Ok, well I'm where you were two years ago, but with some dumbbells on order.

Get a coach. You will either hurt yourself, lose motivation or work harder for fewer results otherwise. I hesitated for months, but I do not regret it for a second. Best money I spent.

Weekly Pilates session (with coach) did it for me (took less to be pain free, and then also added split keyboard and new chair to make it even better). Also best money I spent (we’re in full lockdown so haven’t done a session in 1.5 months, it’s showing)

I've tried pilates and this is *hard*! I think I'd enjoy it quite a bit with a coach, but by myself with books and videos is just too hard. Instead, I've taken to rope jumping for a good cardio workout
