in my experience, Scala community is the best. Yes; there are drama queens, but oh well :-) at least there's some excitement from time to time

I truly believe it to be an active, vibrant, progressive, tolerant and welcoming community, with thousands of developers demonstrating their willingness to share ideas and help people. You and I had been permitting that abuse Jon, by trying to mediate for someone that is manipulating you and taunting everyone in the community. It's crystal clear to me know, We've been played.

Unfortunately the damage done is highly visible and what's perceived of _the_ community externally isn't easy to change. I for sure met some of the brightest and friendliest minds there. There's so much history in the way. I wish the community all luck they need.

Mmm... “passionately disagree” sounds like disagreement on technical issues. Today seems more on whether or not crapping on somebody else’s work for self promotion is acceptable, which, while a reasonable debate, is far less clean than you make it out to be.

I’m being very careful not to err on one side or the other here. But let’s call a cat a cat. We’re debating whether insulting someone’s work is ok. I’m guilty of that - I will make fun of scalaz if I feel it’ll get me a few cheap laughs.
