I'm starting to get fed up with the relentlessness of all this self-indulgent sniping. Here, I'm being held up as an example of *something* with @jdegoes and two minority members of the Scala community, because one of the 1400 people I follow was "obsessive and confrontational".pic.twitter.com/bqGCtBu3SM

Does anyone really see this positively? Does it make anyone feel more welcome? Is it highlighting the real villains? Would any minority Scala user see it and think, "here's someone fighting for our needs"? Am I wrong to see it as frankly much more "obsessive and confrontational"?

If the answer was "no" to any of those questions, please just leave a "like" and move on—I'm not so interested in collecting verbal affirmations. But if anyone answered "yes", I'd like to hear why you think this drip-drip of perniciousness gives any value to the Scala community.

Actually if you look at the account in question, it's not "obsessive and confrontational", it's actually a harassment troll. It has been created, deleted, and recreated several times, sometimes even within a single day, always with slight variations on handle and name.

I'm probably being naive, but wouldn't that make them different accounts? I think I followed it because its tagline mentioned "Phantom types".

I'm not accusing you or John of anything. I have absolutely no idea how either of you (or really, anyone) came to be following such an account, particularly as it didn't exist for very long.

I just use Scala from time to time. Not even most of the time. And not in almost three months. I think I should at least have *one* contribution--even documentation--before I can say I'm a member of any community.

Jon, are you saying that you see no responsibility at all for the credibility you lend a troll, with your reputation, by following them?
