Oh dear, I looked on /r/programming and learned that 76 seconds is a really long time for a compiler to build itself, and that I should write posts with them in mind... well that's me told!

To add a data point: For Scala, compile times are one of the major complaints by users with large code bases, even though compiling the 2.13.x compiler only takes 26s on my machine

Full, non-incremental `compiler/compile` on hot JVM. Single-threaded (except for JVM stuff like JIT and gc) on an i9-9900K
