Polish has a saying, "if someone gives you a horse, don't check its teeth". This is clearly a direct parallel of the English idiom, "don't look a gift horse in the mouth," but a darned sight less ambiguous. /cc @rentalcustard

The French version sits somewhere in between: "à cheval donné on ne regarde pas les dents".
It's pretty clear about looking at the teeth, though, rather than just staring inanely at that moist hole on the lower end of its head.

Amusingly, the version I knew was “a cheval donné on ne regarde pas la bride”. Wikipedia has 3 versions listed, mouth, teeth and briddle. The latin origin of that expression, Noli equi dentes inspicere donati, is strictly about teeth.
