What's the best option in #Scala for parsing XML?

I have an incomplete library (Euphemism) which parses/serializes XML into case classes, with a nice immutable API. But I don't yet have a working XML backend for it. Everything I tried seemed to produce mutable results, and I basically ran out of time trying to get it to work.
I mention this not so much as a carrot dangled just out of reach, but if anyone wanted to help fill in the missing pieces (manipulating an XML tree), I'd be happy to devote time and support to helping them. It would basically give us the ease-of-use we enjoy for JSON but for XML.
