I went for a run tonight, and managed a touch over 3km. It was awful. I've gone six weeks without running before, and got back into it without much trouble, but never six weeks of barely moving. The mask over my face and the 5kg I've gained probably didn't help either.

5:30min/km is quite fast after a longer break imho. What's your normal pace? I'm currently forcing myself to run slower to keep me heart rate low. I've read that this will lead to a better basic endurance. Quite boooring, but also relaxing.

I have always found running slower too much of a mental challenge, though. The effort of getting outside and running was always enough of a barrier that whenever I achieve it, I want to push as hard as possible. Having said that, I never tried very hard... ;)
