Two continents later, and I had just finished Scala Days in Switzerland, and was on my way to Japan, via a stopover in Warsaw. My plane was running late, and I was starting to dread the 10+ hr journey to Tokyo (before another flight to Osaka)...
So the plane left Warsaw, and flew for a couple of hours, before the pilot told us it had developed a problem, and she had to dump the fuel over Belarus and turn back. There's a photo somewhere on my feed of a lot of fuel coming out of the end of the wing...

And I was so tired at that point, and I felt so detached from what was going on around me that I didn't really feel any concern for the plane... I just wanted to get some sleep.

So we landed back safely in Warsaw, and I hung around the airport a bit, while they were repairing the plane. I started to read up on refunds for late flights. I had already missed my connection to Osaka, and my first night's accommodation (the only one I had booked).
