People seem to be nonplussed by the correct meaning of "nonplussed". I'm unimpressed that everyone seems to think it means unimpressed, but I'm not nonplussed. "Nonplussed" means only "confused". It has nothing to do with the absence of a feeling of positivity.

This is another one of those "why do so many people think X" things where I hadn't the faintest notion that *anybody* thought X.

The thing about "nonplussed" is that the meanings aren't *so* different, so I can't be certain of everyone's intent, but there are enough clearly-wrong cases among many ambiguous cases that I think it's a pattern. And the alternative meaning makes sense, in a way.
