Does anyone else seem to spend 50x more time deleting characters like ", } and ) which their IDE inserts automatically, than they save not having to type them on the fewer occasions they get inserted in the right place? Or is it just me?

My tweet actually had the same effect on me... rather than just complaining about it, I twigged that it was well within my power to do something about it!

It's probably useful for programmers who grew up with IDEs, but as a vi user of nearly 25 years, I struggle with it.
