Seems like it's becoming an increasingly popular antipattern to hide some actions until you hover over them.pic.twitter.com/7H0sjjRvDi

That particular pattern is an instant hard “nope!” from me on any tool. An action I can’t see without a mouse simply doesn’t exist.
I'm trying to wean myself off Vim this decade, so I'm prepared to forgive VS Code for a while on the basis that maybe this isn't something I should care about too much... but yes; deep down, I agree with you.
I've been using Sublime Text for about five or six years now and I'm still absolutely thrilled with it. If you're attempting Vim-weaning, Sublime still has the best and most comprehensive Vim mode I've ever seen in a non-Vim/Emacs editor.
Oh no, I'm going to end up with n+1 editors now...
Just out of curiosity. It looks like you all ignore IntelliJ in your discussions. Why is that? Simply because it's so heavy or are there other reasons?
I ignored everything except Vim until this year. But I'm also working close to the team developing Metals, so I'm interested in testing it.
I have to use IntelliJ (well, Android Studio to be exact) but I tried VS Code with Metals for a hobby project and I like it
I just need to convert key shortcuts to what I'm already used to...
The key shortcuts I want the most are the ones for navigation, and some of these are not even set up by default. I'm sure it will take me months to configure it as I want it. I considered removing *all* the shortcuts, and then adding them in when I need them.
