I currently need to check Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Discord, Slack, Gitter, Telegram, email and Github for notifications. It's completely ridiculous and I resent that this is what life in 2020 is like. But at least those nine windows tile nicely on my huge screen.

Sadly, most of these platforms make it hard to use omni-messengers by closing their APIs and introducing new or by features without updating the API docs in time.
Yes, I suspected that was the case. Being proprietary is a competitive advantage, certainly.
