I believe some people use one of those omni-messenger applications, to keep it all in a single panel. (or Emacs)

Sadly, most of these platforms make it hard to use omni-messengers by closing their APIs and introducing new or by features without updating the API docs in time.

Actually, Franz is the tool I've heard suggested more than anything else. Unrelatedly, I find it ironic that they claim the name alludes to Franz Joseph I of Austria, whereas I can't help but think of Kafka.
