I went to a restaurant (alone) and the staff showed me to a table right in the middle of the room. My seat was facing the direction of where the waiting staff wait. I started reading. 95 minutes later, they brought me the menu. This is a record for me, at least.
I didn't, surprisingly, but I did felt bad afterwards for allowing them to feel bad enough to want to give me a free cake, when the 95 minutes I spent reading didn't really matter to me, and I had every opportunity to just ask for the menu...
