Hi @Uber, you charged me 10 złoty for cancelling a trip this morning. But I cancelled because a) the driver was deliberately avoiding coming to where I was standing, and b) because the driver didn't even exist. It was 6.38am and I could see there was not a single car on the road.pic.twitter.com/sZj10W03z9
I was matched (after about two minutes' wait) with a driver, "Iulii", two minutes away, and watched him drive along the road on the my map (ul. Basztowa, Kraków) as I stared down the length of that street and saw not a single car. Eerie.
As he appeared to approach me, with no car to impede his transit towards me—not even himself!—he inexplicably turned off ul Basztowa and onto plac Jana Matejki, stealing defeat from the victorious jaws of my pickup spot, as I stared in his direction and saw... no cars.
I then continued to wait for a few minutes as he fumbled around some lesser-known streets of Kraków, maybe even manifestly visible to the naked eye, but out of my sight now, at least, before coming to an apparent rest just around the corner, 100m from when I stood.
Having toyed with the idea of canceling the trip earlier, I learned that I would be subject to a charge for cancelling the invisible driver, so I decided to walk towards his location: at the very least it would have been fun to share the same physical spacetime as a vehicle.
But, alas, as I was about to turn the corner to discover whether the car had become incarnate in the real world, my trip was cancelled, and I lost the opportunity. It's a cool trick, but it wasn't worth even the relatively modest 10zł.
You can request a refund and they instantly refund it. This happens continuously and they're probably well aware. They seem to hope to be just difficult enough that you won't bother requesting a refund when they mess up, they kinda hide where the refund thing is.
Confirmed, it's not directly visible but in my experience they accepted returns immediately

Ah, yes, had the same in Krakow. Driver wasn't there, as there were no cars in my marked spot (legal to get to!) and they marked it as no show
