I'm looking for the perfect laptop backpack. Durable, weatherproof, spacious, heavy padding for the laptop, plenty of pockets for cords and dongles. Has to also fit an iPad Pro. And it has to be pretty. What do you recommend?

If it has to be pretty, I have had over of these for the last 18 months: https://www.gusti-leather.co.uk/dark-brown-leather-vintage-rucksack-backpack-2m21-20-3wp … However, it's not what you asked for in a number of ways...

Although it has a padded laptop pouch, I would advise against it. I removed mine so that I have a single large space on the inside of the backpack...

I worked out, after years of traveling with just one backpack, that it's much easier to optimise the padding for each individual item you need padded. Unless you're backpack always contains exactly the same things, there will be space wasted due to excess padding and pockets.

A perfectly-fitting padded sleeve for the laptop, and lightweight zippable packs for clothes and another for cables, placed into the single storage space in the backpack worked much better for me.

This particular backpack has a very rectilinear shape which made packing it, particularly with zipped-up "bricks" of clothes satisfyingly efficient.

But for most people it would be too small. I would usually carry seven days' worth of clothes in there, without much contingency.
