I'm staying in a motel in Utah tonight. On the table is an upturned, white, approximately three-litre, plastic bowl, beneath which is a transparent bag, all atop a beige plastic tray which is screwed (with a single screw) to the table. It can rotate. But what does it all mean?

Ice machines are hardly extravagant. They exist in nearly all Americans home freezers as well. Do you not find it convenient to have ice around? Our ice machine is indispensible in our home.

They just don't exist much in Europe. We put water into plastic trays and freeze it if we want ice... and everything seems to work out adequately.
