Some contrarian advice for job candidates: don't try to improve your interview technique. If you're genuinely a good candidate, it shouldn't be in your interests to be hired by a company that would be easily fooled by anything so superficial as "good interview technique".

"White guy advice" or maybe just privileged advice... that's fair. When you're starting out, it's natural to think, in the absence of lots of experience, that interview technique matters a lot... And unfortunately it does.
But, if it's any consolation, I wanted to encourage people by saying those are less desirable jobs anyway, especially if other people in the company have been hired that way.

There's another corollary: if you're not a good candidate, then brush up on your interview technique, because you're going to need luck! The unfortunate thing is that a lot of people who are good candidates don't realise it (and the reverse, of course)...
