I don't often do it, but that particular tweet hit a nerve. I'm trying to help to build a friendly community, and I think that calling out unkind behavior when I see it is an important part of that. My options for discouraging the original tweeter (and his friends) are limited...

I'm not claiming any sort of equivalence. That's a very simplistic reading of everything I've said, though I do realise that this is easy for people to treat this as a trivial "us vs them" situation. That's why I also spoke in 2017 to try to encourage people to see more nuance.
