Because he has first-hand experiences which I'll never have, as a white man.

There are a lot of factors that go into what experiences one has besides the color of their skin. But what do experiences have to do with validity of an argument?

Being able to verify first-hand the premises of the argument, rather than relying upon reports by others with that experience, or worse, others who don't.

That would be true, but what premise are you referring to?

Of course his perspective is valuable. But not because of the color of his skin! And that isn't a premise of his argument, it's his motivation. An argument doesn't stand or fall on its motivation but its validity.

I don't doubt that you're arguing in good faith, and yes: motivation doesn't change validity of an argument, but being part of a minority undoubtably helps you better notice and understand issues like inclusivity and discrimination, which is central to the 2016 criticism of JdG.

I'm glad that you don't doubt that but the fact that my motives are now in question kind of makes me lose the desire to continue the conversation

Maybe I didn't need to say that, then. It remains true.

Well it's not your fault that just the other day I asked a question on Noel Welsh's tweet and his immediate response was to assume I asked in bad faith. Anyway Twitter is not very conducive to these conversations. Idk where else to have them, but I do think we need more of them

Just thinking some more about why I felt the need to clarify: I felt like my answers were becoming increasingly insufficient for you, and wanted to reassure you that I'm not just stringing you along for my own amusement, as I think some people would.
