Of course his perspective is valuable. But not because of the color of his skin! And that isn't a premise of his argument, it's his motivation. An argument doesn't stand or fall on its motivation but its validity.
I don't doubt that you're arguing in good faith, and yes: motivation doesn't change validity of an argument, but being part of a minority undoubtably helps you better notice and understand issues like inclusivity and discrimination, which is central to the 2016 criticism of JdG.

I see it as a metaprivilege of sorts to have quite a bit privilege but also have the experience of marginalization along one component of my identity. I'm increasingly trying to apply this empathy to advocate for people who experience marginalization in ways I don't.
