Setting the time on an oven or microwave is a difficult design problem because nobody does it often enough to learn it, so it needs to be deduced afresh, roughly every six months. I had a novel idea about how to vastly improve the UX: how about *just not displaying the time*?
This makes me wonder how hard it would be for electricity companies to send the current time, digitally, across the power network. I suppose it would be difficult to get the data across the various transformers en route...

The device would still need decoding logic, it would be just as easy to pick up the MSF signal (formerly known as rugby clock), which we already have. That, or have a wifi connection.

Or standardize syncing time over low-power bluetooth.
