Well, this would cut off some functionality. Like: start at 16.

I think that using relative times for this would be a good compromise, considering the vast numbers of oven clocks everywhere which are displaying the wrong time or (almost more annoying) a slightly wrong time...

That is some brilliant out of the box thinking.

It’s an interesting idea. Digital clocks on microwaves probably preceded digital clocks on walls, wrists, or phones. We have nearly limitless access to the current time. Taking the other side of the argument: NTP-enabled microwaves. Yeah, that sounds dumb.

NTP as a side effect of a networked microwave that learned from how well it’s “reheat casserole”/etc optioned worked through ML on global usage, not as dumb. Why doesn’t my microwave learn that it DIDN’T SOFTEN THE BUTTER?!

I miss my parents' 30yr old analog microwave, 2 dials, power and timer, and it's still working. My washer/dryer also similar. More appliances should be like this.

At first, I thought you meant cooking time, which is just crazy. But then I thought, maybe not. How hard would it be to have an infrared sensor that stops when food is hot enough?

"Why is my Baked Alaska taking so long?!"

I don't know much about memes, but is there a "you had one job... not any more than that" meme?
