My guess would be a strange two's complement rounding issue in the printf function in your version of glibc. Note that 5.1 is not accurately representable in binary.

I don't know but you should really use something else than Google dns. They use it to spy on you, and on all of us. For example, you could use 1.1.1.1 which is faster and more privacy friendly. Please?
