Typeclass derivation! The main (and last?) stronghold of macros. Will it be like
@propensive's Magnolia, but built into the compiler?1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

It will be more like shapeless. But I'm investigating whether Magnolia could be built on top of it. Kind-polymorphism may provide some additional benefits.

Watch this space: shapeless 3.0 will be a hybrid of shapeless and magnolia, all built on the compiler intrinsics.

So... will Scala 3 get enough of a kind system on top of AnyKind to be able to relate two kinds to each other? Or can quotes/splices help?

Turns out you can do enough without full kind polymorphism. Which is great because it means it can be backported to Scala 2. Come to my talk on Wednesday if you'd like to know more :-)
