And earlier today, in Prêt à Manger, Gatwick Airport, I tried to buy a granola bar for £1. "Just take it," the guy said. "Can I pay contactless?" I asked. "I told you to just take it!" he said. I left the shop clutching the bar nervously. I'm suspicious some devilry is at work.https://twitter.com/propensive/status/1135001466937204737 …

This is like the time(s! plural!) where I've gotten into the Shengen zone without actually showing my passport. They just… let me walk in. I was sure I'd be arrested on the way back out again.

Well, it is of course, but in
@djspiewak's case I think it's just that flights into Schengen from certain countries are sometimes treated as if they're domestic. Particularly if arriving from UK which has stricter immigration controls than Schengen.2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
Also, I believe that men are statistically more likely to be denied entry than women, but my experience of spending many hours in US secondary immigration is that the other people there are overwhelmingly non-white, and they get a much harder time than I ever do.

My Latina wife gets shunted into there every entry, and treated as second class, despite being a permanent resident. It's disgraceful.
