What about compilation times (for those tests that can be compiled on both)?

I didn't check, but it would be interesting to try. I'll do that some time. Unfortunately, Scala 3 doesn't support -Xresident, so I have to launch a cold new JVM every time.

This only reassures me in fact that state of the world for Scala 2/3 would be as bad as it is for Python 2/3.

Bear in mind that these are the tests for the language, so they're not representative of typical code. And they're compile errors, not runtime exceptions!
