Keyboard shortcuts are great, but hard to remember when different applications choose different defaults. I wonder what the general UX would be like if applications were to bind no keys initially, but allowed the user to easily bind an action upon the first usage of a shortcut.

I think there is a lot of value in people’s computers working more or less the same, even if it’s a little bit annoying. Learning and helping is a lot harder when everyone customizes everything. This is one of my unpopular tech ideas.
It mainly bugs me that Ctrl+W is sometimes "delete word", and sometimes "delete word, delete all other words too, and then close the tab, irrecoverably".
