A good contribution to bloop and the JVM community as a whole would be a Scala/Java implementation of Nailgun. The python/C clients are great/fast for short-lived CLI sessions, but there are also other tooling use cases that require communications between Java processes.

Agreed. I just wish the C version was as portable as the python script. However, a big problem with the C version is that it doesn't work via local sockets/named pipes and that the implementation is not fully up-to-date with Python's.
