I know we have all been criticizing the dominance of mass-market languages in education, but I'm not sure pushing the pendulum so hard to the other side and marketing a language with no future is a wise choice:https://twitter.com/DrMarkCLewis/status/1101912426495336448 …

You sound very confident about that, Simon. I would never be so confident that Scala *does* have a bright future. Anyone in the tech industry who's seen how technologies historically come and go should know that there's no place for even the best-informed people to be so certain.

But really, I don't think that was really your purpose. This is just one in a series of tweets where you take the shallowest, cheapest shots at Scala at every opportunity.

And I'm sorry it came to this, because you devoted at least three years of your career to Scala, and you contributed a huge amount in that time. And it ended over a personal issue. I regret that it did, but it's no justification for criticising the language and community.

Please just chill out, and try to get over your personal grudge with Scala. Reading your tweets brings no happiness to anyone (yes, we talk about them). Everyone just finds them demoralising, and it only reflects badly on you. Try to see them how other people see them.

There are plenty of things you can criticise Scala for, and @odersky and everyone else is very open to critically discussing technical issues. But the constant snark just guarantees you'll be ignored in those discussions.

I think my comments on technical topics are largely independent on what you have decided to call "personal" issues". But as you brought it up already, let me have a few words on that topic, because you make it sound like some kind of random weather phenomenon:

Nobody forced Martin to try and gaslight me. Nobody forced him to harass my university. Nobody forced him to make absurd claims about my private life in public – he did it all of it out of his own volition.
