      I don't remember learning, but I remember an anecdote from my childhood. In Soviet Russia, they used to sell Kvass from large cistern on the streets. I remember standing in line, mom asked what's written on the side. I read "K V A S"... then said "beer?" :D (illustration)pic.twitter.com/0bny8If4L2

      I'm very tempted to try to teach my niece Cyrillic, but the poor child would be confused with a different character set, so I think it wouldn't be popular with other members of our family... ;)

      My 4yo speaks 3 languages (English, Hebrew, Russian). I spoke English with him since birth, wife spoke Russian. He picked up Hebrew at the kindergarten, aged 1.7 at the time, in maybe 2 weeks!

      My kid (I hope she doesn't still do this) called every foreign language "Spanish" (e.g. Norwegian) - maybe that was the first one we told her about? She said my name is Spanish (foreign). She can speak some Spanish, and she still called a Norwegian song "Spanish".

      I distinctly remember asking a teacher which country they spoke foreign in.
