Scala Days is the premier conference in the Scala community, so if your talk wasn't accepted, there's only one thing to do: try again next year, try harder, push the limits further, work harder to create an excellent proposal. And trust that you'll have more luck next time!
Because it's in their interests to produce the best programme they can for Scala Days. Their professional judgement is subject to scrutiny, and I bet they are doing their best to minimise the amount of heat they get for the decisions they're forced to make.

It's useful to remember, too, that the programme has to cover several different domains, without too many talks on similar subjects. So it's not strictly the top 48 talks. There only have to be one or two better talks on a similar topic and you might not be selected.
