literally dealing with the same at work right now :D
It was a pretty trivial fix, but Fury now caches source repo downloads centrally. This should mean less downloading.

Is it using worktrees for different versions of the same repo?

It clones bare repositories, then does sparse checkouts of the sources you request. These will be shared too, if they're the same.
