Is there an accepted solution to the set union problem? If so I haven’t seen it.

If I construct two TreeSets with different definitions of equality for the same type then it’s not clear what it should mean to union them together. There are various solutions but I don’t know that it’s really solved.

The point being, remnants of locally-consistent instances can leak via return values if we’re not careful. This is probably uncommon but it bugs me.
