It's worthwhile having the Bazel team try to solve very complex problems for just a tiny gain, and many of those things are simply not viable for Mill or Fury (or sbt or Seed).

i deeply agree and the converse is perhaps that areas outside of those very complex problems (outside of google) are "less optimized for". it's hard to put a number on customers served by open source development (or for that matter enabling the use of build tools in subprojects)
