Here's the rub: I think you will have to work hard to maintain its positive image. It may be seen as a hostile fork, goaded by
@tpolecat's suggestion, and given there are people strongly falling on different sides of this debate, don't be surprised if some people are suspicious.
I hope that nobody who wants to criticize cares enough to bother, though. And I think that adhering to the rules laid out is the absolute best thing you (and the other mods) can do to ensure its success. Nobody can complain if r/hascalator consistently upholds high standards.
