there isn't a friendly place run by crooked orgs just like there aren't friendly people who just bully "that one guy no one likes anyways". you'd be living a lie. making the place attractive to more people just gives the bullies more prey to prowl upon.https://twitter.com/propensive/status/1085780937105846273 …

Yes, but I think the more you talk about this, the more "moderators" shift towards "bullies" in a "crooked organisation" and the language is fooling you into thinking they're something they're not: I really don't believe there's evil intent. They're doing their jobs; maybe badly.

right now I'm arguing against your imo outrageous suggestions rather than any specific situation or a specific group of people on reddit

I'm not sure why they seem outrageous. None of my suggestions are extreme in any way (it's somewhat against my nature). I've just shared ideas which I think should make the community more enjoyable for the majority of people (and defended them).

You assume that people can forego their dignity, like it's some malleable, insignificant thing. See here:https://twitter.com/PLT_cheater/status/1085781363805048832 …

That's a good point. I more or less don't care about being right so much as finding the best answer. I'm not sure that's the entirety of "dignity", though...

And I might be assuming that other people can let go of their beliefs as trivially as I can.

You can't do that( let go your belief), it is a illusion and a belief :D

I didn't explain this point well, in hindsight. I meant to say that I try to be open to giving up arguments I start off believing in, in the face of contradictory evidence that I'm wrong. I've noticed some other people tend, in contrast, to "double-down" when challenged.

Oh, I wasn't talking about you, here. I was talking about "some people"...

Anyway, the critique was really just trying to moderate my own suggestion that I'm special in some way that makes me more reasonable, logical and willing to admit I'm wrong. I think it's probably more of an aspiration than a reality...
