I'm just describing what I see, and trying to suggest the best way people can make the most progress with what we have. I would be fully supportive of anything which improves it, but for as long as that doesn't exist, I'm trying to find the best way to work with what's there.

If I'm presented with the choice between "Hard Brexit" or "The EU's Brexit Deal", I choose the one I think is least bad, even though I know there's a much better option which isn't available to me. I can complain about it, but it doesn't change the choice I'm offered.

Sorry, I don't get the reference... sorry (genuinely) if it was a lazy equivalence. I did actually think twice about it...

there was a false dichotomy. when presented with two unjust options, the third option is always to fight for justice. that's why smarmy "tips" on how to make friends and influence people for someone bullied are a farce when you could be spending this time shouting at bullies.

Ok, so I'd agree that the equivalence of my Brexit example to @fpmortals's situation might have been a stretch. But what about when you can reasonably predict the expected outcome of that third option of fighting for justice?

My implication being that you're guaranteed to lose.

I'm also concerned that "shouting at the bullies" makes the whole environment more unpleasant for all the innocent bystanders. I have much more interest in having them know that it's a friendly place.

then one would expose the injustice of a crooked system, and everyone who isn't immoral supports this, including you.https://twitter.com/propensive/status/1085780516794552321 …

there isn't a friendly place run by crooked orgs just like there aren't friendly people who just bully "that one guy no one likes anyways". you'd be living a lie. making the place attractive to more people just gives the bullies more prey to prowl upon.https://twitter.com/propensive/status/1085780937105846273 …

Yes, but I think the more you talk about this, the more "moderators" shift towards "bullies" in a "crooked organisation" and the language is fooling you into thinking they're something they're not: I really don't believe there's evil intent. They're doing their jobs; maybe badly.

right now I'm arguing against your imo outrageous suggestions rather than any specific situation or a specific group of people on reddit

I'm not sure why they seem outrageous. None of my suggestions are extreme in any way (it's somewhat against my nature). I've just shared ideas which I think should make the community more enjoyable for the majority of people (and defended them).
