your rationalization isn't true. I've been running online communities for a couple decades, and every time something like this happens, someone who has no experience in this pops up and starts throwing around exactly the arguments you have been using. They're red herrings.

there was a false dichotomy. when presented with two unjust options, the third option is always to fight for justice. that's why smarmy "tips" on how to make friends and influence people for someone bullied are a farce when you could be spending this time shouting at bullies.

Ok, so I'd agree that the equivalence of my Brexit example to @fpmortals's situation might have been a stretch. But what about when you can reasonably predict the expected outcome of that third option of fighting for justice?
