I think that for most people, the ban doesn't affect them nearly as much as it affects you, so they're less likely to care. But then they read the follow-up tweet-storm, and they get a "bad feeling" (that's all it takes) and probably just feel the moderators were right all along.

It's fast and loose reasoning, which doesn't stand up to critique, but there is no critique, so it doesn't matter. They get on with their lives, and you end up looking worse. Everyone loses.

not only in this domain... remember how things were in 2005-7 with all the people who (rightly) claimed there was a bubble and were shut down? Being right is the easy part, monetizing it is much harder
