it really looks like the kind of things I experienced. Are you using a source/rolling base distro? If so, it really can be an impedance mismatch between firmware/kernel/microcode/acpitable
I'm using Gentoo, and it wouldn't surprise me... I upgraded a few packages since the previous restart. It probably didn't help that I combined that with an unclean shutdown (power loss)...

I tend not to rebuild kernels once everything is working (it's just asking for trouble, right?), but it does mean mine is a year out of date now...

unclean shutdown shouldn't be a problem at all. If your kernel is old and you didn't changed hardware abstraction layer things (acpi table, cpu microcode, drivers, boot system, bios firmware...) it's unlikely the same pb as me (I had recent kernel). Hope the best for you!
