Wow! My ancestor once fled WWII battlefront and got back home (several 100s km), was caught and sent back to the battlefront (that had meanwhile got closer through some boring-and-non-memorable places), fled again and got back home on foot. I wonder why there's no statue of him

Another one had his life saved during WWI (before having kids) by three 5 francs coins that where in a wallet in his breast pocket that stopped a German bullet. My life and all his descendents' is therefore literally worth 15FF (of circa 1917).

Had him invested them after that, that'd maybe been possible. But he kept those coins an that's probably for the better. I mean, I can handle three century-old items that had an absolutely crucial role in the ginormous chain of events from the Big Bang to my very existence.
