    Through a few friends I've become a fan of modern US rock over the years. One of my all-time favorites where The Thermals, who disbanded last year. Their work is full of brainy religious and political critique and I wish them all the best.

    Got a new book of the month, which I have had around for a while. This is a guide on using S/370 era JCL. It is much more useful than the confusing IBM manuals and guides for modern z/OS. Fits well into the era represented by TK4- MVS.

    My Boblbee backpack is in need of a paint job after 10 years of hard use. The "Phantom Black" paint has gone sticky. Seems to strip well with Ethyl-Acetate nail polish remover. Not sure about new design yet. 😜

    Just rediscovered a commercial that I really like. It is a psychedelic spot for the Ford StreetKa from 2004. Only five billion years of sunshine left... Must hope for fixing the climate though...

    Every system engineer needs to know at least some Erlang. Its concepts are utterly superior to other languages in some application areas. Would welcome a mini-Erlang that can be embedded into small systems such as smart cards.

    Studying IBM mainframes using the Hyperion emulator. Computers with 8M of RAM being used by thousands of people. Utterly fascinated about how industrial computing culture was back then. Video about adding a CPU (in german).

    My book of the month: a treatise on microcode from 1976. Most of it still applies to modern CPUs. Good luck finding this information online. Should be on .
