Writing! Affect! Methods! So great to see this chapter with out in this super book. Some of our work on writing workshops with research students, and some emerging ideas about what this means for methods, ethics, politics. Ping me if you'd like a copy of the chapter.

I had big plans for my 40th birthday. Hiring one of those light up dance floors with different coloured squares. The cost is ridiculous $$$ so now I'm trying to work out how hard it would be to make one. Very hard it seems.

What are your favourite articles, books and other scholarship that use participatory or autoethnographic methods to make sense of something? Let's share some critical, ethical, reflexive, and well-contextualised lit?

This is absurd. Cutting the Bachelor of Arts - which feeds into multiple other degrees, industries and jobs - makes no sense at all. Feeling for everyone at Fed Uni.

Cutting-edge research should speak to other scholars, not to the wider public. If Ministers and the ARC want NITs written in a particular way, they can take it up rather than putting it back on overworked researchers and DVCRs.
Quote Tweet
The NIT was political nonsense from the start – #DitchTheNIT If ARC or Minister want "National Benefit" statements, in language the public can understand, then fund ARC to help researchers wordsmith something good enough *after* grants are awarded.

Saturday teaching after a week intensive teaching on campus is full on. But made so much better listening to students share their ideas about research positionality.

Yes this. Excellent reminder! Lecturers need to pay attention to this too. I did it this week in the first seminar and a student reached out to say they appreciated the option while they negotiate their pronouns.
Quote Tweet
To be clear, the alternative is letting people volunteer their pronouns. And it would be fine to say 'let's go around the table and briefly introduce ourselves, and feel free to share your pronouns if you'd like.' Just don't force people to either disclose or feel closeted...
