Have you ever heard your legislator say, “I’m for public education,” but then you hear about things happening in Austin that do not sound very pro-public education? #txlege #txed

Have you ever wondered how your legislator voted on key bills involving public education; or how your legislator stacks up on public education versus other legislators? #txlege #txed

We ask all those questions, and the information is not easy to find, is not consolidated or it does not exist. We decided to do something about it and formed Project Ēdūcō. #txlege #txed

Here is the official “About Us”: Project Ēdūcō is a non-profit service organization, dedicated to enhancing public education in Texas and encouraging stakeholders in Texas to engage in improvement of public education. #txlege #txed

Through accountability tools, research, advocacy, and up to date information, we will provide citizens the details necessary to fight for public education. #txlege #txed

Project Ēdūcō will not be looking at what legislators say about public education, the sound bites, and press releases. We will be looking at the legislation and legislator votes. When it comes time to make a stand on an issue, how did they cast their ballot? #txlege #txed

We will take those voting results and turn them into an individual legislator score. We will take those scores and stack them all up for you. #txlege #txed

Now you have something concrete you can talk to your representative about. You can congratulate them for standing up for public education, or you can ask them why they did not. #txlege #txed

To give you a sense of what's to come, we looked backwards and built the scorecard for the 85th Session of the Texas House. There are 14 pro-public education votes captured. How did your Representative do? #txlege #txedhttp://bit.ly/2H1qfVv

Not only can you see how your individual representative did in the 85th Session of the Texas House, but you can also see how they stacked up against all of the other legislators? #txlege #txedhttp://bit.ly/2Fi08as

The 85th Scorecards are just a sample of what is to come. With the launch of the 86th Session, every legislator will start with a clean slate. A new dashboard will capture every key vote, updating throughout the session. #txlege #txed
